By the skin of my nose

So I spent the weekend in the hospital.

That's right.

On Friday my blood pressure had sky rocketed, I'd gained 6 lbs in 2 weeks and I was spilling +3 protein in my urine. The doctor told me the chances of having the baby this weekend were 90%, either by induction or c-section. Preeclampsia was the word of the day. Needless to say I was a bit freaked.

However, it seems 2 days of forced bed rest bought me some extra time and I got to come home today. So now I'm waiting for Tuesday. And if all is well then we'll try to get to the next Tuesday. And so on, and so on.

So now I'm on bed rest at home, not to leave the house except for doctor appointments.

I really could use at least 2 more weeks.

If you're reading, send good thoughts this way.

Man oh man! I hope you're okay! How long until the baby is due? Two weeks? So baby wouldn't be sooo early... but OMG, how frightening for you.

I had 4 weeks left when I went in to the hospital - 3 weeks left this coming Thursday. This time is passing fast. My MIL was back in the hospital though when I was being admitted so I was completely worried about Melbourne being able to handle all the stress. Me in one hospital, her in another - what would he do?
Luckily she was discharged the day before me and she's back here at the house with us and my mom is coming down next Sunday to help me finish things and to basically be my maid until this baby arrives. I'm so glad she's going to be here. I'm starting to feel better already.

Well, it's done! Mother and newly birthed baby are fine, healthy and may be home as early as Saturday, February 3rd. It pleases me to no end to proudly declare that I am Husband (and now Father) to the two most wonderful and beautiful women in the world. Many thanks to everyone that helped us remain sane and focused during the pregnancy - now if we can just maintain that state of zen for the next 18+ years...
