My cat of 18 years died on Friday before Christmas. Mel E. B.'s mom had a heart attack on the Saturday before Christmas. We spent Christmas in the I.C.U. She's doing much better now, things could have been so much worse I know. But we're all glad to get a new start.
There is so much to bitch about but I won't because it's all about keeping it in perspective. Right? Right.
So 6 weeks to go and here's what I know I need to do:
- Unpack stuff from showers and wash baby clothes
- Get a changing table/dresser to put all newly washed clothes in
- Pack my bag for the hospital
- Put together crib
- Get replacement arm for rocking chair
- Find a ped
- Make sure car seat works in our vehicle
- Set up Pack-n-Play
- Move desk out of current spare bedroom/future nursery in prep for re-tiling
Anything else you mothers who've been through this before can think of? What am I missing? What do I NEED to do before the baby gets here?

I hate to be the one to mention this, but since I had the breastfeeding experience from h*ll the first time, I will say this - oh, this is a public site, isn't it? I will just email you :)
Getting all nesty!
Our best item of baby stuff was the swing. They'll always sleep in it, without fail. Well, if that failed, we'd go out driving with the baby.
Not to bring the drama from the HN blog to yours, but I simply wanted to find a way to thank you for agreeing that their tricks are dirty. On the upside, it helped me find you in the Great Blog Ocean!
And by the way, finding a pediatrician should be #1 on the list. I promise you that you'll be there so often you'll be on a first-name basis with the entire staff (and you will want them to LOVE YOU so you get favors). And the best advice anybody gave me was to wrap your marriage up and stick it on a shelf in a box marked "open in six months" - then focus on baby, knowing the marriage will be there and will be intact, and you can pick up right where you left off!
Peace, and good luck!
Thanks, SuperSnark. I really, really need to get on that pediatrician thing. Even though it's on the list, it keeps slipping my mind. I guess because it's not right in front of my face like the crib, the rocker, the clothes . . .
