Why does Newsweek want to keep me in the dark?

I don't know what to make of this. Either Newsweek doesn't think we should know what the rest of the world knows about Afghanistan or Newsweek doesn't think news about Afghanistan will sell in the U.S because Americans don't care/don't want to know. I don't know which is worse.
