Beware the barrenness of a busy life

Hi! Long time no blog, huh? A quick catch up.

First there was the trip to NC and all the preparation for that. I had a wonderfully busy time. How do we manage to stay so busy when our intent is to do nothing? But it was so good to see everyone.

I spent 6 hours with all my girlfriends and it wasn't enough. I love talking to them. I learn so much from them every time I see them. I learn about their jobs, about what it means to be a mother, and I relearn how important it is to have girlfriends. Devone couldn't make it but she did call and we all got to talk to her via speakerphone.

Also, Amanda made me an awesome CD. I made my parents listen to it as they were driving me to the airport and then I made Melbourne listen to it as soon as I got home. It's in my CD player in the kitchen right now and I listen to it while I'm making dinner. I love it!

Mom gave me the perfect hair cut. It's the best hair I've ever had. Seriously. And it's red again. (This didn't happen until after I saw the girls, so I'll have to post a picture soon).

We had a Christmas get together on Wednesday night and Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. I ate . . . a lot.

Anna and Nathan were there for basically 24 hours, again, not enough. I miss them so much! I don't talk to them as much now that they're in Raleigh. I don't know why this is. Must rectify.

I even got to see Tate, for a minute. Seriously, it was like a minute. He as walking in as we were walking out. I teared up when he hugged me. Miss him like crazy. It's so weird to have someone be such a huge part of your life and then suddenly, it seems like the blink of an eye, you don't even know each other any more.

I of course developed a huge fever blister. Travelling stresses me out.

Since I've been back, Melbourne and I have been working like mad. He was just up for 45 hours straight. We're trying to get as much done as possible because we will be closed for a week for Christmas. And this is a busy time of year. Everyone is trying to spend their IT budgets and make sure that everything is in proper working order to start the new year.

Mom and Dad are coming down next Tuesday and we're going to Abaco for Christmas! This will be only the second time that Melbourne's and my parents have met. Will definitely post pictures.

Also, and don't read if you are squeamish, we've suddenly been invaded by mice AND rats. It gets a little bit chilly and they all run inside apparently. So far the tally is 2 mice , 1, rat. The rat was in the attic and the mice were in the front room. I knew about the rat because I heard it running around up in the ceiling, but the mice had me fooled. There was no evidence. I never would have known had one not decided to streak across the floor in broad daylight. Stupid mouse. Anyway, hopefully we'll have them all eradicated by the time Mom and Dad get here.

So really, that's about it. Travelling, working, mousing. Nothing to write home about but just wanted to let you know I'm still here.

Check back after Christmas for pictures from Abaco.
